Car 147 basic

SAME is offering CAR 147 Basic AME training in two Categories i.e. Category B1.1 (Aeroplane Turbine) and Category B2 (Avionics) in line with DGCA’s regulations as per CAR 147 Basic Issue I dated 27 Dec 2017.

Category B1.1 (Aeroplane Turbine) - Students enrolled under Category B1.1 (Aeroplane Turbine) are trained to obtain an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s License with respect to maintenance performed on aircraft structure, powerplant of Heavy Aeroplane (HA), Jet Engine (JE).

Category B2 (Avionics) - Students enrolled under Category B2 (Avionics) are trained to obtain an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s License with respect to maintaining an aircraft’s Electrical System (ES), Instrument System (IS) and Radio Navigation System (RN).

SAME offers AME course for both the categories of 2 years duration consisting of four semesters, each semester of six months.

Subjects

Practical Knowledge

Practical Training at SAME

An important part of the curriculum is the gaining of practical knowledge, in addition to classroom instruction. SAME has created twelve workshops/laboratories so as to impart the highest standards of practical training and skill development.

SAME will ensure that it follows the DGCA prescribed syllabus and curriculum and prepares the student to appear for the examinations for obtaining a license conducted by DGCA.

SAME will arrange for industry experts to address and interact with students on a regular basis thorugh a series of guest sessions.
Apart from the mandated course work, SAME will make effort to offer training program covering personality development/communication skills, general knowledge, and current affairs for students. SAME will also impart basic computer-skills training to students as part of the curriculum. Students will also be required to undertake group-tasks and assignments, and to make presentations both as a group and individually.

Practical Training at IndiGo

SAME has entered into long term agreement with InterGlobe Aviation Ltd., (IndiGo) for imparting practical training to its students at IndiGo's maintenance facility at IGI Airport New Delhi as required by DGCA guideline CAR 147 Basic.

Practical Training at HAL, TAD, Kanpur

SAME has entered into long term agreement with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd., Transport Aircraft Division, Kanpur for imparting practical training to its students at HAL's aircraft manufacturing & maintenance facility at Kanpur as required by DGCA guideline CAR 147 Basic.

Classes

In four semesters covering a period of two years a total of 1440 hours approximately will be devoted to classroom instruction, and a total of 960 hours approximately to practical training, out of which 288 hours of practical training shall be undertaken at IndiGo's maintenance facility at IGI Airport New Delhi as required by DGCA guideline CAR 147 Basic.

SAME students will follow a five-day week schedule. Classes will typically be held in the morning hours and practical instruction in the afternoons, however, this may be varied depending on the requirement.

SAME students will receive four breaks every year. A summer break of six weeks, a spring break and an autumn break of one week each, and a Winter break of two weeks. Additionally, SAME will observe 10 holidays including three national holidays.

Attendance is compulsory and will be taken during all the classes. A minimum attendance of 90% is compulsory as per DGCA regulations, without which a student may not be permitted to appear for the examinations.

Evaluation

SAME will conduct basic knowledge examination three (3) times in a year in line with the regulations of the DGCA and training policies. As per the tentative schedule of examination, the examination shall be conducted in the month of April, August, and December. This schedule may differ depending on the year plan.

Students must secure 75% marks in each paper in order to pass, and become eligible for the next semester. Students who fail to score 75% may be permitted to write the Module again in re-examination.

An informal evaluation of students will also be undertaken, based on their participation in class and their performance in class, home assignments, and group assignments.

Parents/guardians of students will be regularly advised about the progress of the students in terms of the examination results, attendance, behavior, class participation, & home assignments and class assignments.
